From my family to yoursβ Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays! βοΈ?βοΈ
I’ll see you next year, but before I take your leave, I wanted to share a weird experiment I tried recently.
Are you using ChatGPT to Diagnose Yourself?
ChatGPT made quite a splash this year, and I wouldn’t have tried this experiment had I not had one of my clients tell me that he resorted to the AI platform for answers to his health query, assuming they would be better than Mr. Google!
So, I asked Mr. ChatGPT to write a short piece on a health topic I know much about, with references!
I wanted to see what it could do.
Truth be told, it came up with a piece that seemed pretty convincing, but it sure had some questionable facts.
But when I looked for the references, I couldnβt find them.
So, I asked Mr. ChatGPT about the references but with better specifics.Β
Guess what?
I got back names, issue numbers, and dates of articles that did NOT exist!
In other words, the system made them up!
Several times, Iβve written and educated about finding accurate and reliable medical information online.
But I never thought Iβd have to tell people that AI would purposely give incorrect information and lie to back it up!
How can you find accurate information online?
The most important thing is to see who supports the website.
Always check the URL. Those ending with .edu are usually from academic institutions; .gov is from the U.S. government & its equivalence; and .org is generally for patient awareness or advocacy organizations.
When you start looking at .com or .net sites, you need to look at who is paying for that site and who the advertisers are.
For example, if you read anything on www.sanoberpezaddoctor.com, you know it is genuine, non-biased, and based on my years of experience and expertise. ?
Till then, be careful and protect yourself. At least don’t rely on artificial intelligence when it comes to your health.
Please!
I would love to know your thoughts. Just leave a reply in the comments below and we’ll get the conversation flowing.

Resources for Patients With Alopecia Areata
What’s Happening?
The βNational Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF)β offers support, educational resources, and community to patients and families throughout their journey living with alopecia areata.
Why?
Patients with alopecia areata (AA) face multiple challenges as they come to understand their diagnosis.
I know this since my sister suffered from this condition for a long time.
In addition to learning about the autoimmune disease and treatment options, they may be recognizing the unpredictable and chronic nature of their condition and grappling with the loss of self-identity that comes with hair loss.
Anxiety and depression are more prevalent in patients with AA than in the general population.
While I have been on this journey with countless patients, and we have had success even without the need for strong medications in most cases, I give all the credit to the supportive family members who have helped their loved ones navigate through this journey.
Sweet potatoes may be useful for the treatment of obesity and related diseases.
What’s Happening?
Purple sweet potatoes have been getting much attention after they were featured in The Blue Zones. And they should be getting a lot of attention! Purple sweet potatoes contain anthocyanins, a flavonoid that gives certain foods a purple or blue color.
Why?
βThisβ study found that anthocyanins in foods like purple sweet potatoes have an antiobesity effect β another reason to love this colorful and delicious food!
Next time youβre at the market, look for some purple sweet potatoes to add to the menu this week.

? Fun Fact for this Week!
What animalβs liver is toxic to humans?
Like many things, vitamin A can be toxic in high doses. Vitamin A accumulates in fat, and polar bears have a high-fat diet, so the amount of Vitamin A in their body is well beyond that of a human. The liver of one polar bear can contain enough vitamin A to kill a human.
Now, who knew that? ?
